Digital self-referral
The bladder and bowel service team at County Durham and Darlington NHS Foundation Trust has introduced a digital self-assessment for patients.
As you know, talking about bladder and bowel problems is sensitive and can be embarrassing for many. This new digital self-referral removes any awkwardness enabling patients to self-refer directly to the service without having to share details of their symptoms with their GP practice, or other healthcare professional beforehand. It’s secure and confidential, using the healthcare app technology already being successfully used across a number of the Trust’s services. Patients can self-refer from the Trust website . There’s the added advantage of convenience in that they can complete the self-assessment from the comfort of home, at a time to suit them.
Once the form is completed the bladder and bowel service will view the referral and triage according to clinical priority.
